A Forecast Watch for NOAA Scale G2 (moderate) Geomagnetic Storm conditions has been issued for 12 September, as the result of the CME associated with the M4 flare observed at 09/0029 UTC. The arrival of the plasma cloud at Earth’s magnetosphere is forecast for early on the 12th. G1 (minor) conditions are forecast to persist into 13 September. 🚨 CME CONFIRMED. IMPACT LIKELY FRIDAY ☀️🌍 We reported on the M4.4 solar flare yesterday. Now both the HUXt model and NOAA’s ENLIL forecast confirm Earth is in line for impact. Forecast arrival is set for August 8 around 09:30 to 12:00 UTC. That’s early morning for North America. The CME is expected to deliver a glancing but fast hit, with arrival speeds estimated between 600 and 665 km/s. Both models show Earth taking the outer edge of the ejecta.
