I wanted to upgrade it a bit, so I ironed fusible fleece to the two fabric pieces and quilted the front one (fusible fleece is not my favorite to use--it tends to shift and bunch when I quilt it, but it's all I could find in New Zealand). Another fun little coaster! This one started with a 2.5" hexagon, then I added 2" strips around the outside. For the first strip, I used a partial seam so the last strip could be sewn to the base hexagon like the rest of the strips. Then you can see I go back to the first strip and sew it to the last strip.
