All signs have pointed toward Stefon Diggs playing in Week 1, but the Patriots receiver is getting a bit cryptic about his status.

On Thursday, the New England Patriots coach was asked about the curious statement Diggs gave to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini regarding his chances of playing in Week 1. Diggs was cryptic, saying “we’ll see” and that he and Patriots coaches “aren’t too excited.”

With the first half of training camp over, Diggs has fully established himself as a leader in New England’s receiver room. In the meantime, he put himself on that right path as well — both physically in regards to his recovery from major knee injury, and mentally as far as the acclimatization to Josh McDaniels’ offense is concerned.
