The Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2025 was unveiled last night at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, bringing exciting news for London's culinary scene. A total of ten London restaurants were awarded their first Michelin star, while two establishments elevated their status to two stars.

When the UK’s newest Michelin stars were dished out in a swanky ceremony earlier this week, there was one accolade that stood out among the rest. Plates in Shoreditch became the UK’s very first vegan restaurant to be decorated with a prestigious Michelin star.

There are a total of 220 Michelin star restaurants in the UK and Ireland, including 10 three star, 29 two star and  181 1 star.

London’s world-famous Ritz Restaurant and the innovative Soho venue Humble Chicken have both been awarded two Michelin stars. The Ritz Restaurant, led by the much-loved chef John Williams, earned its first star in 2017 and many had tipped it to move up to two.

In the heart of the city, two-starred chef Alex Dilling recommends Notto near Piccadilly Circus , praising its well-executed pasta dishes under £20. The restaurant, also backed by Michelin-starred Phil Howard, demonstrates fine-dining techniques in a casual setting.
