San Diego police were investigating a deadly shooting in broad daylight Wednesday in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood.

Two people were shot near Little Italy Wednesday morning, the San Diego Police Department confirmed. A short time later, a police officer was also shot in what's believed to be a connected event.

The victims have not been identified at this point, but during a 2:30 p.m. press conference, SDPD said one was a 39-year-old Hispanic man, while the other was a 31-year-old Hispanic woman.

The suspect connected to a shooting in Little Italy that left two others dead Wednesday has also died, authorities say.
