NEW DELHI (Reuters) -The head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stephanie Pope, met the chairman of Air India on Monday in India, two sources said, as the companies seek to find the cause of last week's fatal crash involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Air India has cancelled six international flights, all Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, on Tuesday as the airline initiates major scrutiny of its Boeing aircraft following the fatal crash of flight AI171 on June 12, 2025, in Ahmedabad.

The crash happened just weeks after the company cut a deal with the U.S. government to avoid taking criminal responsibility for a pair of deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019.

Boeing is years behind schedule on delivering the newest Air Force One jets and has been repeatedly criticized by President Donald Trump.

All but one of the 242 souls aboard the Boeing Dreamliner 787 perished in the crash, and more than three dozen were killed on the ground.

Wisk Aero is looking to bring self-flying air taxis to Texas and has acquired an Austin-based tech company to help with its air traffic management.

The black boxes will provide cockpit conversations and data related to the plane’s engine and control settings to investigators and help them in determining the cause of the crash.
