John Rave homered playing in place of the ailing Vinnie Pasquantino and the Kansas City Royals beat Chicago White Sox 6-2 on Saturday night to move above .500 for the first time since June 10.

The Sox left 11 runners on base and the bullpen imploded after Martin pitched six innings of one-hit ball. Now they have to play .500 ball the rest of the way to avoid the century mark for losses.

Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro was ejected from Friday’s game against the Chicago White Sox in the fifth inning. Quatraro was tossed after arguing with second-base umpire Tom Hanahan. Quatraro stormed out of the Royals’ dugout at Kauffman Stadium to address Hanahan after outfielder Kyle Isbel was called out on a stolen-base attempt.

Noah Cameron pitches into the sixth inning, and Salvador Perez hits a go-ahead homer as the Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1.

Lenyn Sosa homered for the Sox, but that was all for a team that has cooled off mightily after a hot second-half start.

Quatraro argued White Sox shortstop Colston Montgomery had blocked Isbel’s path. The play is, by rule, a judgment call and not subject to replay. It was Quatraro’s second ejection this season.

Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino exited Saturday’s game against the Chicago White Sox with a heat-related illness. In the first inning, Pasquantino was checked out by Royals manager Matt Quatraro and the training staff during his first at-bat. He appeared to feel discomfort while at the plate against White Sox starter Sean Burke.
