Joshua Riibe, 22, was named as a person of interest in Konanki’s March 6 disappearance. He was not charged with wrongdoing or named as a suspect. The ruling comes as Konanki’s parents asked authorities to declare the 20-year-old dead.

Sudiksha Konanki was last seen on March 6, when she was holidaying with her friends in the Caribbean nation. She was with Joshua Riibe before heading to the beach in the early morning.

Joshua Steven Riibe, a 22-year-old Iowa resident and a student at St Cloud State University in Minnesota, said that the authorities detained him without any formal charges, adding he was treated unfairly during the investigation.
