Chevrolet’s Corvette ZR1X has dethroned the Ford Mustang GTD as the fastest American car, prompting a competitive response from Ford CEO Jim Farley.

The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now the fastest American car around the famed Nurburgring race track. Mustang GTD fans have been reeling since Chevy announced its top models both toppled Ford's 7-minute-52-second lap time around the 12.9-mile "green hell" by between two and three seconds.
