Tesla on Friday announced updates to both its Model S sedan and Model X SUV. The company explained the changes on the social media site X (formerly Twitter) and nowhere else. Both models saw an immediate $5,000 price increase for all trim levels.

The two older Tesla offerings are now a tiny fraction of the automaker’s output, and this makes complete redesigns a costly proposition.
