President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the US would “stop the bombings” against the Iran-backed Houthi rebel group in Yemen, after the Houthis told the US that “they don’t want to fight anymore.

The airstrikes on the capital, Sana, came days after the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen fired a ballistic missile that struck near Israel’s main airport.

While the hub quickly resumed services, several airlines have suspended flights to Israel as the Houthi rebels boasted about piercing Israel’s multi-layered air defences, including the Iron Dome and US-provided THAAD missile defence system.
