According to the MLB insider, the Padres are starting to pursue a trade involving the Athletics' closing pitcher, Mason Miller. With the success that Miller has found in a short time in the big leagues, it would cost a lot for San Diego to land him.

The San Diego Padres reportedly have their sights set on lights-out Athletics closer Mason Miller. As Padres general manager A.J. Preller pursues outfielders Jarren Duran and Steven Kwan ahead of Thursday’s MLB trade deadline,

All three of those players fall in the "young and controllable category." Duran, 28, is a year removed from an 8.7-bWAR season and is making south of $4 million in 2025. Two-time All-Star Kwan is due just over $4 million this year, while Miller is making just $765,000.
