At least two graduate students whose arrests have been in the news are being held at this former juvenile detention center. Here's what we know about the facility in Jena.

Rümeysa Öztürk, a Tufts University graduate student, was arrested in Massachusetts and sent to the South Louisiana ICE processing center in the swamplands of Evangeline parish in Basile. Sending detainees to the cluster of remote immigration detention centers known as “Detention Alley” in the south is a common practice.

Some allege the Trump administration purposely sent the university students to a conservative jurisdiction that is favorable to its immigration policy goals.
