A portion of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is back open after wildfires forced park officials to shut the park down earlier this month. The North Rim of the park in western Colorado is now accessible to the public.

A national park in southwest Colorado partially reopened Wednesday for the first time since a fire broke out earlier this month, while a fire at Grand Canyon National Park prompted more closures outside of the park.

Crews have made progress in containing the South Rim Fire at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. The wildfire has prompted closures of campgrounds at the park for the rest of the year.
