Einstein predicted the existence of gravitationally-warped rings of light in 1915. Now, a new one has been discovered just a cosmic stone's throw from our own planet.

Euclid space telescope sent some images back to Earth during an early testing phase. While reviewing the pictures, astronomer and Euclid archive scientist Bruno Altieri found something incredibly rare: an Einstein ring circling a galaxy.

Einstein rings help scientists study dark matter and cosmic expansion. Euclid will find thousands more lenses to map the Universe’s structure
