Netherlands launches children's rights assessment of Roblox after safety concerns. Investigation follows US lawsuit over child exploitation.

The family is among dozens suing Roblox, Discord and other tech platforms, alleging they allowed sexual predators access to their children.

The Dutch cabinet is assessing online gaming platform Roblox to determine whether it is suitable for its young audience and safe to use. The home affairs ministry confirmed the review is being carried out following questions from children’s news channel Jeugdjournaal.

Australia's eSafety commissioner says her team has "taken Roblox to task" over its risk of exposing children to harm but warned the online gaming platform may not be included in the upcoming social media ban.

Gaming platform Roblox surged in value in the UK in 2024 as it continued to become hugely popular among Gen Alpha.

There is hateful and discriminatory rhetoric that is being put into these spaces that children are consuming,' said CAIR Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry.

Fortnite, Roblox, Clash Royale and various other games and gaming services have been struck down by an "operational issue" with Amazon's web services today, though Amazon themselves promise that they're already seeing "significant signs of recovery".
