Bubba Wallace is making history on Sunday along with the 36 other NASCAR Cup Series drivers competing in Mexico City, as the series races internationally in a points-paying event for the first time since 1958.

Former Supercars champion turned Cup Series driver Shane van Gisbergen dominated NASCAR's debut points race in Mexico City. After starting Sunday's race from pole position, Van Gisbergen won the Cup race by over 16 seconds,

NASCAR senior executive Ben Kennedy shared that while the sanctioning body is hopeful of a return to Mexico in 2026, they cannot commit to the venue at the moment.

"I cried as hard as a situation like this permits," one fan said of Suárez's Xfinity Series win Saturday as NASCAR returns to Mexico City.

MEXICO CITY - Daniel Suarez became the first Mexican driver to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series on home soil and while he had hoped for better than his 19th-place finish in Sunday's inaugural Viva Mexico 250 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez he said the experience had left him craving more.
