After months of criticizing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, President Donald Trump took the fight to the Fed’s front door on Thursday, publicly scorning the central bank chief over the ballooning costs of a long-planned building project.
The Justice Department had sued the leaders of Illinois, Chicago and Cook County over policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration officials.
Speaking to reporters at the start of his tour, Trump said that the administration was "taking a look at what's happening" at the Fed's $2.7bn (£1.8bn) renovation. "It looks like it's about $3.1bn," Trump said, as Powell shook his head.
