A fire captain in California has been killed in her own home after being stabbed multiple times in what authorities suspect is a potential domestic violence attack.

Rebecca Marodi, a Cal Fire captain stationed in Riverside County, was found stabbed to death inside of her own home in Ramona on Monday evening, authorities said.

The sheriff said the abandonment appears to have taken place in the spring/summer of 2020, right as the COVID-19 pandemic was in its early stages.

Deputies observed mold and human waste throughout, garbage piled as high as four feet, and an overflowing toilet.
