The man suspected of killing a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband and wounding another lawmaker and his wife is in custody following a nearly two-day manhunt that followed a shocking streak of political violence.
MINNEAPOLIS, (Reuters) - Vance Luther Boelter, 57, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing a Minnesota Democratic state lawmaker and her husband while posing as a police officer, Governor Tim Walz said.
State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were gunned down at their home early on Saturday morning, but lived. Melissa Hortman - the top Democratic legislator in the state House - and her husband, Mark, were shot and killed. Yvette Hoffman said in a statement that she and her husband John were "devastated" by the Hortmans' deaths.
Washington D.C. has begun discussing the security of politicians across the country after two Minnesota lawmakers were shot on Saturday.
