Although Hendry has made several appearances in WWE (mostly with NXT) all with the exception of the Royal Rumble happened before Topps and WWE announced their new partnership and licensing agreement.

Hendry became TNA World Champion in January, defeating Nic Nemeth for the belt. He would then appear in the men's Royal Rumble match, making his main roster WWE debut in the process.

There was plenty of speculation as to who Orton would face, but Hendry wasn’t really a name being considered — even though he was the surprise at the Royal Rumble.

A match between Joe Hendry and John Cena is one WWE and TNA fans have wanted to see for some time, but Hendry believes one thing would stop it from happening.
