The Astros had high hopes for Forrest Whitley, who once was the top pitching prospect in baseball, but his time with the organization is now officially over.

Friday’s deal ends the Astros’ nine-year relationship with Whitley, whom they selected at pick No. 17 in the 2016 draft and gave a $3.148 million signing bonus. Whitley threw just 10 2/3 major-league innings with an 8.44 ERA in an Astros uniform.
