The deal comes after almost a year of negotiations between CPS and the CTU, with the CTU offering over 700 different proposals.
CTU leaders called the four-year deal a “historic achievement” that represents the fulfillment of promises Mayor Brandon Johnson made to transform CPS into a school district that offers a well-rounded education to every Chicago child and security to its employees.
"What is in the proposed settlement agreement that our members will soon vote on are enormous improvements for Chicago’s children," says Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates.
Almost a year’s worth of bargaining between the Chicago Teachers Union and Chicago Public Schools could culminate in a tentative agreement Monday.
