Wednesday’s vote comes two days after the union announced it had reached a tentative agreement with Chicago Public Schools following nearly a year of bargaining.
The Chicago Teachers Union shared some details of what their new tentative agreement with CPS contains, including what the district calls the largest raise for teachers in 13 years.
"What is in the proposed settlement agreement that our members will soon vote on are enormous improvements for Chicago’s children," says Chicago Teachers Union President Stacy Davis Gates.
A key committee put its support behind a tentative deal for teachers that includes salary increases, decreased class sizes and more librarians.
Sources confirm the two sides have concluded negotiations and will send the potential agreement to a union committee for approval on Monday.
