An Air Quality Alert remains in place in the Chicago area as smoke from the Canadian wildfires lingers in the air. WGN's Emmy Victor has the latest developments.

The smoke is expected to remain over the northern and central Plains of the United States for the next couple of days, according to meteorologists.

Minnesota’s air quality alert, which had been slated to expire Saturday evening, has been extended to noon on Monday. Winds are still expected to shift and start driving unhealthy air north and out of the state on Saturday.
