It’s a ubiquitous airline nightmare to arrive at your destination without any of your packed clothes because the carrier lost your luggage. Apple is preparing an update for AirTags to allow users to share the device’s location starting next month and the tech giant collaborated with multiple airlines to create a system where disgruntled passengers can share their lost bags’ locations.

A key partner in Apple's bid to make luggage more traceable is Sita, a tech company that makes the baggage-tracking tech WorldTracer, which is used by over 500 airlines and ground handlers at more than 2,800 airports worldwide.

An Apple iOS update will let travelers share their AirTags location with airlines such as Delta and United. When Apple introduced its location-tracking device more than three years ago, it quickly became a traveler favorite for one major reason: the ability to keep tabs on checked luggage.

The Share Item Location was added in the public beta of iOS 18.2, and it will soon be available to all users. This cool new feature lets users generate a secure link with the location of an AirTag or Find My network accessory,
